How to Deal with Stress
Jake Morris
What is stress? Stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood.
There are many kinds of stress that take a toll on your body. The top three most common are physical, emotional, and traumatic stress. Physical stress is a type of stress that refers to any physical activity that damages the human body. Emotional stress falls under the category of depression and anxiety which are both based on the mental side of the spectrum. Traumatic stress also involves depression but is more of a phycological trauma that involves shock, denial, disbelief, confusion, and even mood swings.
Everyone experiences stress whether it be everyday or once a month. People cope with stress in many different ways and some people have their own ways. Personally I have been told by my parents to do things like count to ten before I act or speak and take deep breaths. Some other great ways to deal with all kinds of stress are to think positively, this will help with the mental aspect of the scale. Also, changing any negative thoughts into positive thoughts helps too. For anything that is not urgent at the moment just step away from the situation and sleep on it until the next day. Going on a walk or going to the gym helps many people I know get out their anger built up from stress.
People all have their own ways that work best for them when dealing with stress and it is up to you to figure that out on your own by trying many different methods. Just because someone else does one thing does not mean it will work for you.
